Sustain independent European research

The Renaissance Europe Institute accepts no funding from sovereign states, political parties, or single corporations. We exist because individuals and institutions who understand what is at stake in Europe choose to back independent work.

Structure   Belgian ASBL (non-profit)Disclosure   All donors above €5,000/year publishedCaps   €250k private · €500k institutionalIndependence   Zero editorial influence from any funder

The questions Europe faces — how to build a capital markets union that actually works, how to rearm without fracturing the bloc, how to secure energy independence while hitting climate commitments, how to compete industrially with the United States and China — do not lend themselves to quick commentary. They require sustained, rigorous work: multi-year research programmes, standing advisory committees, and the institutional patience to produce analysis that is correct rather than timely.

That kind of work is hard to fund through conventional means. Governments have interests. Corporations have positions. Political parties have platforms. We accept funding from none of them. What we accept instead is the support of people and institutions who believe that Europe needs a genuinely independent analytical voice — one that publishes what the evidence shows, not what any funder would prefer.

Your gift sustains that independence. It pays for researchers who are free to follow the argument wherever it leads, for publications that are not commissioned or conditioned, and for convenings where the only agenda is the quality of the conversation.

If you believe Europe’s next decade will be consequential — and that consequential moments require rigorous, independent thought — we invite you to support this work.

Frequently asked questions

Q01

Is my donation tax-deductible?

The Renaissance Europe Institute operates as a Belgian ASBL (non-profit foundation). Tax deductibility depends on your country of residence. Belgian, German, French, and Dutch donors may qualify. Consult your tax adviser for eligibility in your jurisdiction.

Q02

Do donors influence editorial decisions?

Never. Our editorial policy prohibits any donor from directing, reviewing, delaying, or conditioning research. Funders above the €5,000 annual threshold are disclosed publicly. The full independence policy is on the editorial policy page.

Q03

Are there donor caps?

Yes. We accept a maximum of €250,000 from any single private donor per year and €500,000 from any institutional funder. These caps protect our independence and prevent undue concentration of funding from any single source.

Q04

Can I designate my gift to a specific programme?

Designated gifts are accepted for our five research programmes: Capital Markets, Single Market, Defence & Security, Energy Sovereignty, and Industrial Scale. Contact [email protected] to arrange a designation agreement.

Q05

How do I cancel a recurring gift?

Email [email protected] at any time. We will cancel within one working day and send written confirmation. We never make cancellation difficult or conditional.

Q06

Where are your audited accounts?

Our 2025 founding-period accounts will be published in July 2026 and linked from the About page. All accounts are audited by an independent Belgian-registered firm. Donors above the disclosure threshold are listed in the annual report.
